Los Angeles CA – Long running California metal merchants LEATHERWOLF have announced the 40th Anniversary Re-Issue of their long out-of-print full-length debut, ‘Endangered Species’, aka ‘Leatherwolf’. Set to release on June 25, the album will initially be made available digitally on all major platforms and on CD via Rubicon Music in conjuction with the band’s first ever Japanese shows. A wider physical release on CD and vinyl with expanded artwork will follow later this summer.
Initially issued as a 5-song EP in 1984 and later augmented with four additional songs for international release, ‘Endangered Species’ was recorded by the classic early LEATHERWOLF line-up comprising Michael Olivieri (v, g), Geoff Gayer (g), Carey Howe (g), Matt Hurich (b), and Dean Roberts (dr) at the legendary Music Grinder in Hollywood CA and Mad Dog Studios in Venice CA under the auspices of producer Mark Avnet and engineer/mixer Randy Burns who would go on to work with Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Kreator and many others. Burns reconnected with LEATHERWOLF for their most recent studio release, 2022’s ‘Kill The Hunted’, and also worked on the upcoming ‘Endangered Species’ re-issue providing a new sheen to the tracks.
